The Southern Crescent Chorale’s 2007-2008 concert series marks their sixth season and promises to deliver a variety of performances for the enrichment of the Southern Crescent community. The chorale, conducted by renowned choral director Janice Folsom, has concerts planned at venues throughout the region that will include dynamic performances of major choral works, along with other classical and Broadway favorites. With national-caliber voices and a challenging selection of material, the Southern Crescent Chorale has established a reputation and a following that continues to grow with every performance.
The season continues with a benefit concert Saturday, February 9th at 7:00 p.m. at the Peachtree City United Methodist Church. This concert is free and open to the public with donations being accepted to benefit The Joseph Sams School, a private, non-profit school located in Fayetteville serving children ages 2 to 15 that have mild to severe intellectual and or physical disabilities. Performing groups include the Southern Crescent Chorale, choirs from McIntosh High School and the Starr’s Mill High School Chorus. All four choirs will sing short concerts individually and then join forces at the end of the concert for two combined pieces. The McIntosh Singers under the direction of Dr. Amy Foster, the McIntosh Choraliers under the direction of Christi Beale, and the Starr’s Mill Chanticleer under the direction of Dr. John Odom are all outstanding ensembles and the Southern Crescent Chorale will be honored to share the stage with them for this occasion. A representative from the Joseph Sams School will briefly speak about the work of the school and all audience members will have the opportunity to make a donation to the school at the event.
The SCC has raised over $11,000 for worthy recipients such as the Atlanta Boys and Girls Club, the Georgia Baptist Children’s Home, and the Southwest Christian Care “Hope House” Respite Center. We are happy to continue this tradition of using our talents to give back to the community.
This concert is free and open to the public. Donations for The Joseph Sams School will be accepted. Peachtree City United Methodist Church is located at 225 Robinson Road in Peachtree City, Georgia.
