BUSINESS WIRE --Committed to serving the local community through volunteerism, Cbeyond®, Inc. (NASDAQ: CBEY), a leading IP-based managed services provider, participated in Hands On Atlanta Day 2008, for the fourth consecutive year. More than 150 Cbeyond employees donated over 437 volunteer hours during the annual day of service, which was held Saturday, October 4, 2008.
“Community service is a core value at Cbeyond,” said Jim Geiger, chairman and CEO of Cbeyond. “We are committed to serving the communities where we live and work, and are proud to make a real impact through days of service such as Hands On Atlanta Day 2008.”
With more than 200 volunteer projects taking place citywide, Cbeyond employees chose to make an impact at three specific projects near their homes and neighborhoods. Employees volunteered at the Joseph B. Whitehead YMCA near Washington Park, the Atlanta Union Mission-Shepherd’s Inn in downtown Atlanta and Belmont Hills Elementary in Smyrna. Projects included: building benches and planters, landscaping, cleaning and painting facilities, and providing meal service.
“Each year, the thousands of volunteers who unite to support Hands On Atlanta show what we can achieve when we work together,” said Michael Rosenzweig, president of Hands On Atlanta. “At Hands On Atlanta Day as well as many other volunteer service events, Cbeyond employees have played an instrumental role in addressing community needs and helping to build a better metro Atlanta.”
Cbeyond has made a commitment to make a positive impact in the communities it serves through its community service program Cbeyond Community Connections™. Employees receive paid time-off to volunteer, and have the opportunity to participate in coordinated volunteer service projects or volunteer with an organization of personal interest.
In addition to volunteer service projects, Cbeyond employees give back through non-profit board service. More than 60 percent of Cbeyond’s executive team members serve as board directors of non-profit organizations.
In 2006, Cbeyond was awarded the 2006 Presidential Volunteer Service Award for its commitment to volunteer service. To date, the company has completed more than 175 volunteer projects and donated more than 16,790 volunteer hours.
